Dreams, scars, hope, loss, and finding paths to new phases in life. The feeling visual artist Linda Linko experienced when she arrived in Litibu, Mexico, was one of instant recognition and deep belonging. Mesmerised by the rawness of certain rocks, completely covered in bright green seaweed, she first discovered the reflections that now inhabit the heart of her series ’Drunk from Love’. Painted and drawn on paper with oil pastel, acrylic, graphite pen, crayon and ink, Linko’s female figures and abstractions radiate in glowing colours, even in such shades of neon she might not habitually use. What once seemed endless, becomes momentary: every wound contains a possibility for healing. In these works, realities and fantasies collide, and bodies entwine. And so, Litibu is transformed into a place that’s simultaneously painfully real and merely a dream — tangible and intangible, physical and spiritual at once. An inner world of love and peace that lingers.
”When I close my eyes, I can still see those rocks.”
